Meek Mill and Robert Kraft may be the unlikeliest of celebrity friends, but don’t tell them because they don’t care. Meek Mill is most well known for his on-and-off-again feud with Drake, as well as his massive backlog of hit records in the hip-hop field. Recently releasing Dreams and Nightmares, Meek sat down with Kay Adams of “Good Morning Football” to detail his new record while talking about the odd-couple relationship he has with the New England Patriots owner, Robert Kraft.

Meek Mill on his New Album

The COVID-19 pandemic has been anything but easy, claiming 5 million lives around the world at the time of this writing. While still ongoing, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and artists like Meek Mill are finally opening up to the idea. Meek says, “I wasn’t really doing music, getting really deep into it.”

Despite his struggles with mental health and writers’ block throughout the pandemic, Meek would tackle his new record by providing a more vulnerable and open side of himself to fans. Meek said, “I’m excited about what the fans will hear because it is a new side of me.”

As Meek Mill developed his newest record, he also developed a relationship with Robert Kraft. Kraft and Meek had connected over the NFL’s mutual appreciation of their work. Meek’s music can regularly be heard during practice at stadiums around the league. Meek says of his relationship with the players, “For me, I was a motivation to them. They’d seen me rapping on the corner and actually come up to sometimes being at the game with Robert.”

Catching a Game With Robert Kraft

Far from the likeliest of celebrity pairings, Robert Kraft and Meek Mill can be seen together during almost any Patriots home game. With that being said, their bond didn’t develop on the sidelines of an NFL game. Instead, it happened when Meek was serving time in prison. Meek said that his relationship originated from visits to prison by Kraft. Meek stated, “That meant a lot to me.”

Meek would go on to explain that he understood Robert’s standing in the community. Meek said that he knew “how powerful Robert” was. Meek Mill would go on to say, “I started talking to him a lot and, you know, we just connected.”

That connection will pay off big time during the 2021 – 2022 Super Bowl festivities where Meek has been invited to announce the Half Time shows. Meek will be commenting on the performances of Dr. Dree, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Snoop Dogg. Meek said that he’d be “in a box somewhere” during the performance.

For his part, Robert Kraft has been a lifelong football fan and a season-long ticket holder of the Patriots for 23 years. Kraft would become chairman and CEO of the team in 1994 when he assumed direct ownership. Kraft stated at the time that his objective was to bring a championship to New England. In the past 27 years, Kraft has helped raise six Lombardi Trophies.
